Using St Georges as a base there is a wealth of things to do and places to visit. Close to our doorstep we have the great chateaux and gardens of Azay, Chambord, Chenonceaux, Langeais, Usse and Villandry to name a few. The abbey of Fontevraud just 20 minutes from St Georges is the resting place of the English Plantagenet kings.
For wine lovers the vineyard trail is impressive as great wines of every style are produced on either side of this stretch of the Loire Valley.

The nearby towns of Saumur and Chinon both with major river frontages have much to offer along with a host of cafes and restaurants.
Saumur is famous for its state cavalry school The Cadre Noir and Chinon for its famous writer Rabelais.
Tours is the regional capital, bustling with life around magnificent architecture, it is also known for its famous writer and poet Ronsard, and here they speak the purest French in France.
During the summer months, local towns and villages stage regular music events, firework displays and fetes. These are usually free to attend and you will find the locals to be very friendly. |
